The Alabama VMA is offering two hours of continuing education to all Alabama veterinarians. These courses are available to ALVMA members free of charge. There will be a $30.00 charge for non-members. Ray Baas with DVM Consultants will be speaking on Trends in Veterinary Practice Marketplace .

Ray Baas- About the speaker

Ray C. Baas is

  • a business economist,
  • founder & principal of the firm DVM Consultants®, which provides practice brokerage, valuations, financing, business education and consultation to veterinarians in the Gulf South and in Colorado
  • Adjunct Assistant Professor at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine,
  • Guest Lecturer at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine,
  • Board-approved CE provider to veterinarians in AL, AR, LA, MS & TN, and
  • former Adjunct Professor of entrepreneurship at Southern University in New Orleans.


A native New Orleanian, he is a graduate of

  • University of New Orleans, BS in Economics
  • LSU Graduate School of Banking and
  • Tulane University Executive Management Program.


He has

·       over forty years of experience in banking and commercial finance,

·       has been President & CEO of three commercial banks, two of which he founded; and

·       has started, owned and operated other businesses in New Orleans and New York City


For 10 years, he served as

·      president of the New Orleans Regional Council for Business Economics, one of the oldest chapters of the         National Association for Business Economics.



Determining the Value of a Practice 


Objective: To teach veterinarians the cash-flow method of estimating value and the elements of financial management that indicate value.

Description: This course is essential for Practice Owners considering selling their Practices and for Associates or Relief DVMs considering acquiring a Practice.
