Proclamation 

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, pet population continues to be a problem in Alabama and across the United States; and

WHEREAS, great animal shelters provide progressive programs to help improve the animals in need; and

WHEREAS, Alabama Week for the Animals brings together organizations, schools, and agencies across Alabama to help celebrate the joy, love and service that animals bring to their lives; and

WHEREAS, spaying and neutering pets and adopting animals from shelters and humane societies are important ways to address the problem of pet overpopulation; and

WHEREAS, the year 2017 will mark the 8th Annual Week for the Animals in Alabama;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim April 1 through April 9, 2017 as

Week for the Animals

in the state of Alabama.

Governor Robert Bentley Officially Proclaims 8th Alabama Week for the Animals April 1-9, 2017!

Throughout the week Alabama animal shelters and humane organizations across the state will be hosting scores of exciting animal-related events in various locations. Alabama citizens will be helping precious animals and bringing joy to communities.

MONTGOMERY, AL -- Animal World USA is pleased to announce that Governor Robert Bentley has proclaimed 8th Annual Alabama Week for the Animals April 1-9, 2017! During the exciting week animal shelters, rescue groups, libraries, wildlife centers and humane organizations across the state will be hosting fun-filled, lifesaving, animal-related events.

Educators, students, businesses and caring citizens will be joining in as well, celebrating and helping animals. Events will include pet adoption days, spay/neuter low cost events, shelter adoption/drive days, R.E.A.D. dog programs & book displays in libraries, multi group rescue organization events, bowling for shelter pets, efforts to help chained dogs, pet food donation ops, initiatives to help horses and farm animals, birding and nature field trips, low cost adoptions, therapy dogs visiting hospitals & living-assisted homes and a salute to our military K-9's and working dogs.

Also to be included are pet food drive/opportunities, low cost clinics, and spring-themed events for families to come and enjoy the amazing animals!
