Call For Nominations for the AVMA
|

After reevaluation of the requirements for those interested in being nominated for an AVMA council or in nominating someone for a council position, it was realized that there was misinformation given in Friday’s (April 24) call for nominations e-mail. Please refer to the following information: |
The deadline date of April 1, 2009 has now passed for the receipt of regular nominations for the vacancies occurring in July 2009 on the various AVMA councils. There are six positions on various councils for which no nominations were received by the April 1, 2009 deadline. They are:
1) Council on Biologic and Therapeutic Agents, representing Clinical Pharmacology, for a term from 2009-2015
2) Council on Biologic and Therapeutic Agents, representing At-Large, for a term from 2009-2015
3) Council on Communications, representing Public Health or Regulatory Veterinary Medicine, for a term from 2009-2015
4) Council on Communications, representing At-Large, filling an unexpired term from 2009-2012
5) Council on Communications, representing Non-private Practice, filling an unexpired term from 2009-2011
6) Council on Research, representing Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, for a term from 2009-2015 |

Please note that all nominations for the positions listed above must be from the floor. According to the House of Delegates Manual, “Organizations intending to nominate a candidate from the floor must complete the appropriate nomination form and submit it to the Executive Vice President as soon as practicably possible, to facilitate credentialing of candidates. Floor nomination speeches will be limited to the information contained on the nomination form.” Therefore, according to the HOD Manual, candidates for the six vacancies listed above will not be permitted give a two-minute speech on their qualifications and are not required to meet the July 1 deadline, as was stated in the previous call for nominations email. Due to the recent revisions to the HOD Manual, this is still a new process for all involved, and we apologize for any confusion we may have caused.
