The 18th Annual Conference for Food Animal Veterinarians is right around the corner and you are encouraged to attend for a fascinating weekend highlighting a dozen well known speakers. The conference has become one of the best sources for continuing education in the southeast for food supply and mixed animal practicing veterinarians. It is held at the 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama which opened a new conference center last year making it a very inviting atmosphere for everyone attending. |
This year’s line-up of speakers includes Drs. Bob Carson, Joe Dedrickson, Julie Gard, Jody Wade, Frank Owsley, Wayne Greene, Gene Luther, Soren Rodning, Dave Smith, Walt Prevatt, Tony Frazier, and David McClary. Topics range from Animal Welfare to Managing Beef Cattle Herds with Anaplasmosis to the Efficacy of Vaccination in Preventing the Birth of BVD-PI Calves. Advances in Anthelminitics: the Versatility of Moxidectin will also be presented along with Mineral Nutrition for Beef Cattle and Beef Cattle Economics. Updates from the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and the Alabama Farmer’s Federation will also be presented. As always a great time is enjoyed during the Saturday evening dinner when the Downie Awards are presented and practice tips are shared among attendees. |

The Alabama VMA Winter CE Meeting will be held February 27 – March 1, 2009 at the Wynfrey Hotel and Conference Center in Birmingham with an early registration deadline of February 6th, 2009 . Twenty hours of CE will be offered on topics related to Oncology and Orthopedics along with a Dental Wet Lab sponsored by Webster Veterinary. Fourteen speakers are contracted to present various topics related to Oncology and Orthopedic issues; Drs. Katrin Saile, Nicki Green, Oceane Aubry, Stephanie Schleis, Peter Christopherson, Elizabeth Spangler, Greg Almond, Bill Brawner, Annette Smith, Bonnie Brugmann, James Milton, Tony Ballagas, Ron Montgomery and Cindy Grant. Drs. Robert Gaddis and Barden Greenfield will be speaking during the Dental Wet Lab. |
