WE MADE IT!!!
|
After nearly two years of working with the state legislature and a year of solicitation to the general public, the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation, in conjunction with the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association, was able to meet the requirement of 1,000 pre-sold spay/neuter plates by the October 31st, 2008 deadline. Not only was the goal met but it was surpassed by 582!
|
With the tremendous support of veterinarians, humane shelters, animal control groups, and many other organizations with animal related interests all across the state, 1,582 plates were pre-sold over a twelve month period which began on November 1, 2007. The state will now begin producing the plates which should become available for pick-up sometime after March 1st, 2009, according to state officials. |
Once the plates are produced anyone who participated in the campaign will simply have to go to the department of motor vehicle office where they originally signed up for the tag and present their receipt and copy of their pre-commitment form. If you elect to receive your spay/neuter license plate before your normal month of renewal, the $50 paid when you filed the pre-commitment form is good until your annual renewal date comes around again. For this reason, some people may decide to wait until their license renewal month to pick up their pre-purchased spay/neuter license plate. From that point on the $50 fee is good for an entire year. |
The Alabama Veterinary Medical Association will place a notice on its website (www.alvma.com) immediately upon notification of the plates being produced.
The Foundation and the Association express sincere gratitude to everyone who played a part in helping reach the 1,000 goal by the October 31st, 2008 deadline. |
Thank you Alabama for supporting this worthwhile cause!
