SPAY / NEUTER LICENSE PLATE SALES INCREASING
Since announcing the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation’s new Spay/Neuter license plate, the state’s comptroller’s office has reported that 220 of the plates have been pre-sold as of January 31st. This is a great start but we are still 780 away from the magic number of 1,000 needed to be pre-sold before the state will begin production. The deadline for meeting the needed number is October 31st of this year. DON’T WAIT…pre-order yours now to make sure this important project will be fully funded.

This is a tremendous opportunity to help with funding for low-income pet owners to have their pets spayed and neutered. Remember, each sale of a plate (which costs $50) will see $41.25 going to the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation with the remainder going to the state for production costs. All proceeds from the sale of the plates will be available for Alabama VMA members to help with the cost of spay/neuter surgeries for pets of Medicaid recipients.

Dr. Robert Pitman of Athens was the head of the committee responsible for getting the state to approve the license plate. He encourages each member of the association to sign up for one of the spay/neuter plates and lead the way to surpassing our 1,000 units. Dr. Pitman himself has committed to purchasing a plate for each member of his staff. If you have any questions regarding the spay/neuter license plate campaign you can find full details on the association website, www.alvma.com.
