Two members of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association spent several hours on a talk radio show in Montgomery recently, informing the public about efforts underway to implement an animal disaster preparedness program statewide. Drs. Libby Todd of Birmingham, Chairman of the ALVMA Veterinary Emergency Management Committee, and Brad Fields, Director of Agriculture Emergency Programs for the Alabama Department of Agriculture talked about emergency programs, animal shelters, response teams and bioterrorism on WACV Talk Radio 1170 on September 4.

The show was hosted by Rick Derrick the director of public relations and communications for the Alabama VMA who spent 30 years in radio and television before joining the association in his current position. The trio took calls from listeners and talked in-depth about disaster response teams, location of animal shelters and the vulnerability of Alabama when it comes to bioterrorism on the food supply.
