Winter CE Meeting Fast Approaching Register Today!

The Alabama VMA Winter CE Meeting will be held Friday, February 27 – Sunday March 1, 2009 at the Wynfrey Hotel and Conference Center in Birmingham. Twenty
hours of CE will be offered on topics related to Oncology and Orthopedics along with
a Dental Wet Lab sponsored by Webster Veterinary. 

Fourteen speakers are contracted to present various topics related to Oncology and Orthopedic issues;  Drs. Katrin Saile, Nicki Green, Oceane Aubry, Stephanie Schleis, Peter Christopherson, Elizabeth Spangler, Greg Almond, Bill Brawner, Annette Smith, Bonnie Brugmann, James Milton, Tony Ballagas, Ron Montgomery and Cindy Grant. 
Drs. Robert Gaddis and Barden Greenfield will be speaking during the Dental Wet Lab.

The Annual Alabama Animal Hall of Fame is slated to be held at the Wynfrey
Hotel Ballroom in
Birmingham on Saturday evening, February 28th, 2009.

The evening will begin at
6:00 p.m. with a silent auction, an open bar (beer and wine)
for the first hour, delicious heavy hor d ‘oeuvers and a fast paced silent auction all to benefit the ALVMA Foundation. The Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony at
7:00 p.m. will
be the highlight of the evening. This year we are honoring some amazingly, wonderful animals and the Bowie-Heath Awards will recognize a number of individuals whose
lives have been devoted to the human-animal bond. This evening will remind you of
exactly why you chose to become a veterinarian and a part of this wonderful profession.

Identity Theft Affects Veterinarians with New Regulations

You are encouraged to check the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) web site often

for updates and helpful guidelines on complying with new forthcoming regulations regarding identity theft which will most likely have an effect on your clinic or hospital.

 

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the United States and around the world. New regulations taking effect on May 1st of this year known as “red flag rules”
will be affecting many veterinarians according to government officials. The original implementation date was
January 1, 2009 but has been postponed to the first of May.
